Broadway is the pinnacle of American theater, located in the Theater District of Midtown Manhattan in New York City. Broadway theaters are defined as having 500 or more seats and are located in the area around Times Square. The district is home to some of the world's most famous productions including long-running musicals, classic plays, and spectacular new productions.

Off-Broadway theaters seat between 100 and 499 audience members and offer a more intimate theatrical experience. Many acclaimed productions premiere Off-Broadway before moving to larger Broadway houses. The Theater District also includes Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and dozens of smaller performance venues.
