🧭 About Dorchester
America's Amazon and Harriet Tubman's Home Ground
Dorchester County holds the largest concentration of bald eagles on the East Coast, spread across 28,000 acres of tidal marsh at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge — marshland so extensive it's earned the nickname 'America's Amazon.' It's also the county Harriet Tubman was born into and later returned to again and again to lead others to freedom, a history preserved in the landscape itself as much as in any museum.
